Use solid white, black, and gray to look for uneven brightness, glow, or clouding across the display. Those backgrounds are usually the fastest way to reveal uniformity issues, especially on larger monitors, laptops, and TVs where one corner may look visibly different from the rest of the panel.

Use red, green, and blue to check whether an individual pixel is failing to switch states correctly. A stuck pixel may show up on one color but disappear on another, while a dead pixel tends to stay dark across the set. That distinction is useful when you are deciding whether the issue is cosmetic, temporary, or something that may justify a return or warranty claim.

Room lighting and brightness matter more than many people expect. A panel can look dramatically different at high brightness in a dark room than it does in normal daylight use.
